Jazz Paws started from a want rather than a brief. I wanted something to put on when the day has already been loud enough: a lofi soundtrack, a band of cats walking a city that looks like Southern California, and a run that asks for two thumbs and about three minutes. There are twenty-four tracks of it, and every cue is on screen as well as in the music, so it plays just as well with the sound off.
The interesting problem was the difficulty. It had to be gentle enough that a younger kid can pick it up and reach the end of a run without help, and still leave somewhere to go for anyone who wants to get good at it. One thumb moves, one thumb plays, and nothing is hidden behind an invisible stat. But each of the fifty cats carries a skill nobody else has, each of the hundred places asks for something slightly different, and reading a street early is the difference between strolling through it and limping out of it. None of that is required to finish. It is there for whoever goes looking.
Tech TigeR built all of it in-house on Flutter and the Flame engine, one codebase running natively on both iOS and Android, with every cat, backdrop and machine drawn by our own code rather than bought in. Three parts of story across 390 levels, a chapter set for each of the fifty cats, and a store that sells cats and never a subscription. You can play it at techtiger.tech/jazz-paws-home.
